Dear friend of The Crucible,
For over ten years, The Crucible has been equipping creatives in Nashville and beyond with a stronger sense of purpose, a deeper understanding of their creative gifts, and a heart to see God's kingdom manifested in all of life. As executive director, I have had few greater joys than to see the hundreds of "artist types" come through our doors and leave with a new perspective. For the next season, however, I will be giving my energies to other efforts, and The Crucible as an organization will be more or less dormant. We will, from time to time, post entries on this website that will continue to serve as resources for the creative community – some local (such as the upcoming screenwriting course in Nashville), others on a national or even international scale. So do check back from time to time – and more importantly, continue to create, to imagine, to explore, to dream – all to God's glory.

SCREENWRITING CLASS in NASHVILLE !
The Art and Craft of Screenwriting, an eight week course covering the essentials of creating, writing and selling screenplays for film and TV, begins the week of June 4, on an evening to be chosen by the students who register for the course. The Screenwriting Course will meet weekly from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at 100 Powell Place, Nashville, across from the Hollywood 27 Cinema.
This comprehensive course will focus on creating the story idea, screenplay structure,developing the plot and subplots, creating dimensional characters, constructing scenes, writing effective dialogue, protecting creative work, marketing the screenplay, and much more. Class size is limited to just 12 students to allow for lots of interactivity and personal attention for writing. Students will have the opportunity to write scenes and cast others in the class to bring their writing to life and will get valuable critiques to help develop their writing skills to effectively communicate with a movie audience.
The Art and Craft of Screenwriting will be taught by Dyann S. Rivkin, an award winning writer-producer from Hollywood, who has also taught this course at Belmont University and is featured in the book, Ask the Pros: Screenwriting.
